Core Analysis

At datalog we believe that quality of data produced is strongly dependent on samples quality, so it’s one of Datalog missions to ensure optimum core sample catching on site, logging, preservation, stabilization and safe transportation; well site core services

SPECIAL CORE ANALYSIS

Special Core Analysis Services include the following analyses at room & reservoir conditions:

  • Electrical Properties measurements, Formation Resistivity Factor and Resistivity Index by different methods.
  • Capillary Pressure measurement by Porous Plate and Centrifuge and by Mercury Injection.
  • Wettability measurements, Harvey Amott, USBM & Combined.
  • Relative Permeability by Unsteady & Steady state methods.
  • Core Flooding analyses.
  • Rock Mechanics Acoustic properties and more.

SPECIAL CORE ANALYSIS PROJECT DESIGN

Electrical Properties

In order to Determine Archi’s equation Constants Datalog applies several core electrical properties measurement techniques:
  • FRF at both room and overburden conditions to get the “m” constant.
  • Resistivity Index by both in conjunction with capillary pressure and by continuous injection method to get the “n” constant.
  • “a” constant is then empirically calculated by FRF curves.
  • Clay Corrections “BQV” are also measured by either CEC or COCW methods.

Capillary Pressure

Datalog provides a full set of Capillary pressure measurements to assist operator’s reservoir engineers to conduct their Saturation height models and geologists to determine different rock types:

  • Capillary Pressure by Porous plate under both ambient and reservoir conditions.
  • Capillary Pressure by Centrifuge.
  • Mercury injection Capillary Pressure up to 60,000 psi.

Wettability

In order to support Operators to get Improved hydrocarbon recoveries wettability of reservoir rocks are measured by Datalog with the following techniques on both fresh, cleaned and restored state samples:

  • Harvey Amott method.
  • Combined Amott USBM Method.

Relative Permeability

As Flow assurance is one of the key parameters needed by production engineers, determining relative permeability curves are necessary, Datalog is supporting various operators in the determination of relative permeability by both:

  • Steady State Techniques.
  • Unsteady State Techniques.

Formation Damage

  • A reduction in permeability around a wellbore, which is the consequence of drilling, completion, injection or production of that well.
  • Formation Damage can cause significant decreases in well productivity
  • Return Permeability Measurements.
  • Water Injection and Water Treatment Screening Services.
  • Reservoir Souring Modelling.
  • Scale Tendency and Scale Inhibition Analysis.

CT Scanning

Performed before a test on whole core to identify any sedimentary features influencing permeability and to determine plug orientation. Gives an indication of:

  • drilling mud invasion into the core.
  • fracture type (open, closed, cemented and orientation).
  • patchy cementation, e.g.. Pyrite.
